About me
Youssra is a passionate advocate for diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism, drawing from her rich cultural heritage as an Arab African Muslim Canadian. With over 15 years of experience in education, she has made significant contributions in various roles, including front-line mental health services at Alberta Hospital Edmonton and supporting youth in non-profit human service organizations. Currently, Youssra works as a diversity education consultant with a local school board and is the owner of Unity Crescent Consulting. Her consulting firm empowers businesses and educational institutions by providing tailored solutions to enhance organizational effectiveness, foster leadership development, and cultivate a culture of success through strategic planning and comprehensive diversity training. Youssra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology, a Bachelor of Education, and a Master's in Theoretical, Cultural, and International Studies from the University of Alberta. She serves in key leadership roles, including on the Teacher Education and Certification Committee of The Alberta Teachers Association and The Canadian Teachers Federation Advisory Group on Eliminating Systemic Racism, Oppression, and Discrimination. She is actively involved with Coalitions Creating Equity Edmonton, chairs The Africa Center's Refugee and Emerging Communities Scholarship Committee, and volunteers as a Director for Islamic Family and The Center for Race and Culture. Deeply committed to supporting humanity, particularly students and educators, Youssra's dedication is mirrored in her love for her husband and four children, who inspire her daily in her journey toward a more equitable world.
