About me
Kristian Basaraba (he/him) is a father of two, teacher, lead singer in the punk rock cover band Dad Religion, podcast host, semi-retired skateboarder and the founder of the community organization known as Rad Dads Edmonton. He is currently on a secondment from his school board working as part of the CMASTE (Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education) team in the Faculty of Education at the U of A as an instructional coach for engineering faculty participating in the SPARK-ENG (Scholarship of Pedagogy and Research Knowledge - Engineering) project. He has a Master’s of Science in Science Education from Montana State University and has taught all levels of high school science but also has a passion for art and projects that explore social justice issues. His students have tackled such issues as sexism, poverty in youth, addiction and one of his last projects, Exploring Colonialism, Creativity and Reconciliation with Skateboards, has earned him the Governor General’s History Award for Excellence in Teaching.
