About me
Carmen Leibel spent more than 16 years in broadcast journalism as an anchor, producer, and reporter for CTV and is now the Founder and CEO of Project Five, Communicate with Confidence! During her time with CTV, Carmen spent many years as a health journalist and progressed to the position of her dream job: news anchor. She created Project Five from the public speaking tips and tricks she learned throughout her journalism career. Officially launched in 2023, Project Five has reached thousands of students, from elementary to post-secondary. Carmen looks forward to helping more students and branching out to more youth across Canada. She designed a program with five simple steps to help students of all ages feel more comfortable and confident speaking in front of others. Carmen strongly believes these crucial communication skills will benefit them personally and professionally. In previous years, Carmen also worked in the Office of Public Affairs with the University of Alberta assisting researchers, students, and professors prepare for media interviews and improve public speaking quality. She has also dedicated time to supporting local organizations, as an emcee and volunteer, such as the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, St. Albert Sturgeon Hospice Association, Rivers Edge Counselling Centre, Canadian Breast Cancer Society, Wellspring Edmonton, Edmonton Down Syndrome Society, and Autism Speaks.
