About me
Three children’s books for up to age 8.
Daphne the Blind Dog Gets Adopted is Daphne’s journey from an animal rescue to being settled in a loving home. She was four years old, already blind, had to be spayed and have her teeth removed to prepare her for adoption. Daphne bravely adapted to new situations, trusting that things would get better. The story focuses on Daphne’s abilities to still smell, hear, feel, know, and taste. Symbols throughout the book can help teach children about the senses.
Daphne the Blind Dog Goes to School is Daphne’s experience at a dog training school taking nose work classes. She needed to learn how to play. She didn’t progress at the same rate as the sighted dogs and many children can relate to challenges at school. Daphne inspires compassion for those with challenges and shows that perseverance can lead to success.
Daphne the Blind Dog Travels Across Canada is told in rhyme, and explores all the provinces and territories of Canada, including maps. A new animal friend is introduced in each location.
