This workshop will explore the connection between the history of colonization in Canada, with a holistic assessment in understanding the ongoing impacts on Indigenous peoples and non-Indigenous peoples. The audience will understand how to use a two eyed seeing approach, and how this relays to working with Indigenous students, families and communities, while using a culturally sensitive trauma-informed approach. Participants will leave feeling empowered in learning how they can implement a strength- based approach, that is focused on resiliency and the strengths that Indigenous people carry within themselves. They will see how Intergenerational trauma can be healed when using intergenerational wisdom in supporting Indigenous people on their own healing journey.
