What's happened to our students and how can we help?
Friday February 7, 2025 10:15am - 11:15am MST
What's happened to our students and how can we help? The benefits of a trauma-informed approach (TIA) in K-12 schools. This is a session designed to help teachers view their students through a new lens. When teachers can change their perceptions of student behaviour, they can more successfully navigate the many different challenges they face in the classroom. Students arrive in our classroom having experienced a wide range of trauma. Teachers need to ensure they are working with these students in a supportive and caring way. You should leave this session with a new understanding of behaviours, as well as armed with a variety of easy-to-implement strategies and a list of recommended resources.

Friday February 7, 2025 11:30am - 12:30pm MST
Have you been struggling to determine why your students are unable to grasp basic numeracy concepts? This session will present the MathImagine Foundation’s Cross-Number puzzles based on extensive Math Recovery research and theory. As students work through the Cross-Number puzzles, you will be able to easily identify the concepts. Not only does it then become clear why they are “not getting it,” but more importantly, what needs to be done so they can move forward.
