Using the appropriate terminology can provide clarity and consistency. Do your grade partners use the same language as you? Bring a fun art projects into your classroom with connections to music and stories! Join me in this hands-on, interdisciplinary session as we first study a local artist, Jason Carter, use Feldman’s art critique to critique his art, look at stories connected to the themes in the artwork, sing songs, and recreate a landscape painting! Our second art project involves an animal study, Canadian history, Haida art study from the West coast, and creating your own Haida art. No music experience is necessary! These art projects will give you opportunities to express your creativity with sketching and painting, while making connections to children’s literature, music, and social studies. Project ideas and resources will be shared to bring into your class right away!

En jouant avec les manipulatifs, en discutant en grand groupe et en pratiquant avec une méthode systématique, tous les élèves peuvent apprendre comment résoudre les problèmes en même temps. Les problèmes peuvent être différenciés pour tous les niveaux des élèves très facilement. For two years, Maegan Giroux, alongside her co-author Peter Liljedahl, investigated tasks for their bestselling book, ‘Mathematics Tasks for the Thinking Classroom, K-5’. Their book covers everything about tasks, from the launch script to consolidation to tips for making your own tasks, all viewed through a uniquely elementary lens. In this workshop, Maegan will lead participants through a grade 4-6 task beginning to end and explore crucial micro and macro moves for an elementary thinking classroom.
