Get ready to shake, shuffle and roll and learn our favorite operational fluency games and strategies for addition and early multiplication. Games and strategies will cover the following concepts: doubles, make ten, count on and back, commutative and associative properties of both + and -, square facts, using skip counting and patterns/number lines, building arrays. Games can be used whole class, small group or in centers and are easy to differentiate to meet the needs of all learners in your classroom. Handout will contain games, concept skill check lists for assessment and strategy pages. Come prepared to play!

Dominoes are one of our student's favorite manipulatives, are easy to find and have the potential to teach so many math concepts. Come prepared to play and learn games that work on the following: counting, subitizing, patterns. operational fluency for +, -, x, place value 10's/1's to 100,10,1' to the 100 000's, graphing, multidigit operations. Handout will include gameboards, journal masters, ideas for differentiating the games will be provided throughout as well as management ideas to help focus and manage the play. Games learned in this session would be great to use at a family math games night.

Bring a fun art project with songs and stories into your classroom! Join me in this hands-on, interdisciplinary session as we look at children’s literature connected to the themes in the artwork, learn songs, and create a botanical art project. No music experience is necessary! This art project looks at themes of growing plants, trees, flowers, vegetable gardens, and fruit. We will be looking at an array of different pieces of literature related to this theme. You will have the opportunity to express your creativity with connections to music, social and emotional learning and the science curriculum. Project ideas and resources will be shared to bring into your class right away!

The Science of Language Learning for Schools and Homes

This presentation will outline how successful language learning happens for children. The structure will be to answer the following questions by outlining the latest research and then providing examples from in-school experience. 1.) What is unique about a child's first language acquisition, and how is it different from animal communication or AI-based language? 2.) When does child language learning begin and what are the critical periods for language learning? 3.) Who are the people that an ideal language development community requires and are screens helpful or harmful for language development? 4.) Where are the spaces that language learning occurs most successfully? 5.) How can home, school, and outside contexts be transformed into language-rich environments? 6.) Why is language development so vital to a child's social, academic, and future vocational success? 7.) Which language outcomes are the most important? Each of these questions will be answered in a way that attendees can understand and apply to the classroom, as well as the home and the community.
